Going Line Dancing? 4 Tips For Choosing Your First Pair Of Cowboy Boots

If you want to have a great time dancing and meeting new people, then there is no better place to do it than at a country western bar. If you really want to enjoy yourself, then participate in the line dances. Line dancing is fun, and it is the perfect type of dancing for anyone who is usually a bit timid on the dance floor. You don't have to create your own moves, so you can dance and have fun while just learning the steps that everyone else is doing. One item you have to wear when line dancing is a good pair of cowboy boots, so follow these tips for choosing your very first dancing boots as you buy cowboy boots online

1. Know the Boot Types

When shopping for cowboy boots online, you should learn what the different types of boots are called, so you know exactly what to look for.

You will find boots online that are called the classic "cowboy boots", as well as "ropers", "riding boots", and "work-western boots". Cowboy boots and riding boots are the two most common types of boots you will see on the dance floor because both have the classic western look that most people look for in a fashionable pair of cowboy boots. Some people also wear ropers for dancing. Work-western boots are typically designed more for function than style, although that does not mean that you won't find any that are fashionable-looking.

2. Opt for Slippery Soles

Unlike when choosing most pairs of shoes or boots that you want to have traction to keep you from slipping and sliding on the ground, you want line-dancing shoes that let you slip, slide, and spin around on the floor easily. That means smooth leather soles are best for dancing boots, and you don't want rubber soles with traction.

If you can find suede leather soles, then those are even better. Suede soles literally glide across the floor, which is why many types of shoes made specifically for many types of dancing have suede soles. If you find a boot style you love, but it only comes with a rubber sole, then don't worry. You can purchase suede and cover the soles yourself, or you can have the soles replaced completely to make them perfect for dancing.

3. Choose Your Heel-Height

Classic cowboy boot heel-height is right around 3/4-inch to 1 3/4-inches. If you want to blend in with the crowd a bit while you learn the moves, then don't stray too far from this classic heel. Line dances were also created by people wearing this type of heel, so choosing a heel that is too high may make some moves much more difficult or impossible. Many line-dancing moves involve stomping and kicking, so get some practice line-dancing before you decide to try experimenting with higher heels.

If you want a lower heel, then ropers often come with shorter heels than classic cowboy and riding boots. Roper heels also tend to be larger in diameter, so they can help you if you want the more stable feeling that a shorter, wider heel offers.

4. Decide on a Color

Once you have chosen the basic boot type you feel is best for you, you can then have lots of fun choosing your colorful boot leather and embellishments. If you want your first pair of boots to match everything you wear dancing, though, then it is a good idea to choose a neutral color, such as classic brown, beige, or black. Once you have gotten some practice on the floor and are ready to buy a few more pairs, then have fun and begin choosing a few more colorful pairs that make you stand out from the crowd and match all of your dancing ensembles.

Line dancing at a country-western bar is a lot of fun, and when you are first learning those new line dances, you don't want to wear the wrong shoes that make dancing difficult or make you stick out like a sore thumb in the crowd. Buy a pair of basic boots to wear as a beginner, then as you master those moves, buy a few more colorful pairs that direct everyone's eyes to you!
